HEALTHCARE
Outreach
8 May 2026

On May 8, 2026, the Chiggy Nsofor Foundation team stepped into the classrooms of Total Child Model School, Dutse, Bwari, Abuja, with one clear mission: to equip young students with the knowledge and awareness they need to take care of their bodies and their communities. What unfolded was an interactive, student-centred session that covered far more than handwashing alone.
The outreach delivered a comprehensive personal hygiene curriculum, recognising that good health begins with the habits practiced every single day. Across the session, students were introduced to seven key hygiene areas: Hand Hygiene, Hair Hygiene, Oral Hygiene, Menstrual Hygiene, Clothing Hygiene, Body Hygiene, and Skincare Hygiene.
Each topic was addressed with practical tips students could act on immediately, not just within school walls, but at home and in their communities. The session also paid particular attention to menstrual hygiene, an often-overlooked yet critical area of health education for young girls.
The CNF team engaged students through conversation, demonstrations, and open discussion, creating an atmosphere where young people felt comfortable asking questions and sharing experiences. The approach reflected CNF's broader belief that education works best when it meets people where they are. When young people understand how to care for their bodies, they show up differently- in class, at home, and in their communities. That is the foundation of everything we do.
The outreach also reinforced the significance of World Hand Hygiene Day as a global reminder that simple hygiene practices remain one of the most powerful tools for preventing disease. For many of the students at Total Child Model School, the session offered not just new information, but a renewed sense of confidence in taking charge of their own wellbeing.
